Sunday Pancakes

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Most mornings are pretty routine around here, even the weekends generally follow the same breakfast options.  Our little guy loves what he loves.  I asked him if he wanted to help me make some pancakes.  He dumped, poured, and stirred, while I cooked and flipped.

We made some really tasty chocolate chip pancakes, and after tasting one bite, he kindly requested his tried and true morning muffins instead.  At least if he didn't like the pancakes, he at least liked helping.

In Case There Weren't Enough Photos of the Supermoon

Monday, September 28, 2015

The lunar eclipse was happening at the same time as the Broncos game, but I think the moon easily won out for me as a better show.

We kept popping out our front door to see the moon go from being almost full to being just a silver of light.  It was so cool to watch.  Right before we headed upstairs to put the little guy to bed, he says, "Let's go out and look at the moon one more time."  I loved that he thought it was just as cool, and I loved watching him pretend to take photos of the moon too.

Denver Zoo Saturday Adventure

Sunday, September 27, 2015

On Friday our little guy requested to go to the Zoo to see the "elephants with the trunks."  He was also very excited to ride the train, which unfortunately broke down so we couldn't ride it.  We settled for a ride on the carousel.

The Lego exhibit was on display, and since we didn't do the full zoo loop we only saw a few of the pieces.

We also for the first time fed the birds at the zoo.  For $2 you get a little cup of nectar and are able to let the birds come and drink from your cup.  I had been warned by a good friend that those little birds are pretty smart and aggressive in stealing the cup of food.  Thankfully our cup wasn't stolen until we are already at the exit.

It is so fun watching as little A gets more excited about the zoo and talking about the animals he is seeing.  He had a great time, and the early morning fall weather was perfect.

Friday Phone Favorites

Every once in a blue mood I scroll through my recent iPhone photos and smile at the fond memories.  I may not be thankful for how connected I am all the time to a handheld device, but I am thankful for always having a camera close by.

Homecoming Parade

Thursday, September 24, 2015

There are days I wish we had a different house - a bigger garage, a full basement, a loft - but everyday I'm thankful for our neighborhood, our schools and the community that comes together in celebrations big and small.

For the last few years I've always realized the homecoming parade came and went by the crushed candy left on the street hours later.  This year, we lucked out and a client meeting was canceled last minute so I was able to leave work in time to get our little boy to the parade.

Loud settings, unfamiliar faces and the unexpected can be really tough for our boy, but not this time - he LOVED it at the parade.  He knew waved, he clapped, he gathered candy!

The photo side of capturing this event left me less than thrilled.  But you know what, sometimes that ok because really the photos can just be snapshots and the beauty of the memory can live in your heart instead of the frame.
