First Day of School 2015-2016

What a difference a year makes - looking back at the 2014-2015 school year, I just can't believe how much our little guy has grown.

What a difference a year makes - we've been there done that first day of school thing.

What a difference a year makes - we know so much more about our little guy, yet are still learning so much together.

This year the first day of school was calmer.  The nervous energy wasn't there.  We knew what to expect.  We watched as other families battled those emotions we faced last year.

We took the few "required" photos before we left the house (but sadly, we didn't grab a mom and son shot) and then headed to school with our backpack, fresh haircut and new school clothes.

So proud of our boy.  Growing.  Learning.  Accomplishing.

Birthday at the Zoo

Saturday, August 15, 2015

For my birthday I wanted to just have a low key day at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  My parents joined us on the adventure, and I think equally enjoyed the experience.  We fed the giraffes, wondered the zoo, fed the birds and enjoyed the views.  After the Zoo we had lunch in Castle Rock at a BBQ place on the side of the highway.  It was a lovely day.  Here's to another year!

Phone Favorites

While on the topic of favorites, I haven't posted a few snapshots from my phone since April.  So here is a random dumping of everything from snowy mornings to sunny evenings.

A few favorite shots

In Vail my boys were throwing rocks into the river.  I'd like to think that boys never outgrow this joy.  The two of them stood on the banks, cheering with each splash.  I think Jason hoped that little A would request he dip his hand back down in the water to gather more pebbles "again, one more" time several times so that the game didn't end.

The light was magic, it settled over the valley bringing warm, golden tones to the water creating some of my most recent favorite photos.

Weekend up in Vail

Sunday, August 2, 2015

Vail is one of our happy places.

We love the fresh mountain air.  We love to wander the streets from the Village to Lionshead.  We love to eat our favorite restaurants and try out new-to-us places.

We like to adventure, and spend time as a family replenishing.

This little trip, the little guy was such a happy and well behaved boy.  He loved playing at the pirate park with his daddy, and loved throwing rocks in the river.

Like most trips up to Vail, I photograph, and Jason finds us a brewery. This time we tried out Vail Brewing Co. and loved their beers.

I also must admit that on Sunday morning before the Farmer's Market (where we bought some of the best peaches), there was a fire alarm in our hotel and Ryan Sutter of Bachelor-family fame was there to save the day.  I've joke on our all trips for years that maybe we would see him and this time we did.  Little A was more excited than all of us to see the fireman, and he was very friendly waving to our boy.
