Letters to My Son - July

Friday, July 18, 2014

I'm taking part in a blog circle with some other fabulous women, where each month I will include a letter to my boy along with a few pictures that capture the emotion and love I feel for him.  I hope that you will enjoy this feature as much I have enjoyed the process, and will also take the leap to the next blog in the circle each month.

My Dear Boy,

Your bushy, bushy blonde hair makes me smile.  Your eyes express endless amounts of joy.  Your squeals spread excitement.   You bring out every emotion, and make life so much deeper and fuller.

This week, I read another blog that featured a beautiful piece by Annie Reneau call "Sometimes I Cry."  It was as if someone had pulled the words straight from my heart.  This week we had your Child Find evaluation for preschool and it was so emotional for me as I am just SOOOO incredibly proud of you, yet sometimes changes, challenges and growth can be really hard on me.  As tears pooled in my eyes at the conversation of what needs to happen in the next few weeks, you noticed, and used your little voice and gestures to request that the teacher hand you the Kleenex box so that you could hand me a tissue to wipe my tears.  It was such an overwhelming moment, and your little face was so surprised when my tears came quicker at your sweetness.  I hope you always continue to show those around you love and empathy.

Speaking of love, you are so selfless in showing your affection lately.  You come running with arms outstretched and fling them around me with such force for your little body.  I love pulling you in and wrapping my arms completely around you and nuzzling into you.  You have also liked sitting close together on the couch recently, and sometimes at dinner you reach your little sticky hand over and just rest it on my arm.  Your tender moments melt away all the difficult moments and make this job of being mommy so rewarding.

You are just such a blessing my little boy.  Thank you for continuing to show me how to love, and for loving me so unconditionally.  You light up my life and I'm so glad I'm your Mommy - I love you so much buddy.

Hugs and Kisses,
Mommy
