Last Nights in the Crib
Tuesday, June 10, 2014
We have had his "big boy" bed for months now, but I don't think either of us have been ready for the transition. It sits assembled next his crib and we talk about it each night. As we went about our evening routine the other night of PJs, toothbrushing, stories, he crawled into his new bed and I asked the same question I've been asking for several weeks, "Do you want to sleep in your big boy bed?" and normally he ignores me, or points to his crib, or says no, or says "over there" (referring to his crib). This time he just said, "OK" in his matter of fact tone. A part of my heart soared proudly that he is growing, and part of me shattered into a million pieces thinking that my little, six pound baby, is now a little boy ready to move on. I knew that night as I checked on him after he fell asleep that I needed to capture a few last pictures of him in his crib. And I do have to giggle seeing him clutching his favorite football as he sleeps.
