Shooting Hoops

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

The thing I  love about photography workshops is they force you to really sit down with your camera frequently.  I've been meaning to capture my little man shooting hoops in his unique way, but really if it weren't for doing a focus speed assignment for the course I probably would have simply shot one frame and called it good.

Playing basketball is a popular activity in our house.  Funny though the little man likes to stand on his stool and shoot hoops from there.  If he isn't standing on his stool he will only dunk.  He commentates his own game yelling "shoot," "miss," "made it!"  It simply cracks me up.

Nom Nom Nom

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Maybe I should change the theme of this blog to be playing and eating - seems I only post pictures of my little guy at the park, or stuffing his face.  However, I just can't get over how cute he is, and how big he is getting.

He sits without a booster sit, in the booth.  He feeds himself, and has favorite foods developing.  He is such a character, and really I couldn't love him more than I do.

Park Love

Monday, April 28, 2014

He doesn't have favorites.  He loves big slides, little slides, bumpy slides.  He loves swinging fast, he loves swinging slow.  He simply loves the park.

We visit parks close the house, we visit parks across town.  We go to the park in the morning, before lunch, when he should be napping, and when we push the limits of nightfall.

I hope he never loses his love for playing outdoors, for being active.  For seeking thrills within limits.  For seeking out the fresh air.

Weekend Mornings Mean Serious Play Time

Sunday, April 27, 2014

It is so fun watching my little boy get older and become more independent in his play.  I love hearing his little voice, and the sounds of his feet pattering across the room.  So much energy.  So much love.  So much a boy.

Play Ball

Saturday, April 26, 2014

He loves sports.  Basketball, football, soccer, baseball.  I don't think he can pick a favorite.

He heckles people while they play the sport.  True story, we were at the park the other weekend and some teenage boys were playing basketball.  He kept yelling "Misssss" every time one of them missed the shot.

For Easter he got a t-ball set and it has been a night request to go play ball.

Easter Bunny

Thursday, April 24, 2014

Sunday morning went a little something like this...

"Honey, you want to go see if the Easter Bunny came?"
"What if he brought treats."
"Remember we talked about wanting Fireman Sam toys."
"Come on."

...guess things don't always go as planned.  He wasn't eager to open his Easter basket at all.  There is always next year.

Spring Blossoms

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

I love watching the garden come to life each spring.  Some places where blooms edge out from the dirt are almost forgotten after a long, cold winter, serving as a sweet surprise after the snows begin to melt.

As the days lengthen and the temperatures rise, we begin to spend more time as a family outdoors, so I'm sure this won't be last signs of the season that I snap.

Happy Easter

'Twas Easter-Sunday. The full-blossomed trees filled all the air with fragrance and with joy. - Henry Wadworsth Longfellow

Blanket Boy

Saturday, April 19, 2014

I'm pretty sure I've posted before about my boy's love of his blankets.  He never really took a pacifier, but from very early on he developed an affection for his thin muslin blankets.  They serve as a comfort when he is sad, provide him laughs when he is happy and keep him company when he sleeps.

And sometimes I think we must have ghosts, when I remember I just have a two year old who loves to wander around the house with a blanket covering his body.

Dinner Out

Friday, April 18, 2014

I'm trying to get better about being willing to pull my camera out even when the location isn't ideal and the lighting isn't perfect in order to capture our everyday lives away from the house.  It can be intimidating thinking people are watching you when you have the camera out, but I need to resolve to be ok with that in order to capture more moments with my family.

Tonight we went out to Wahoo's for dinner and my baby boy just seemed like such a big boy sitting in the booth without a booster seat eating his dinner and goofing around.

Monday, April 14, 2014

We've had play-doh in the house for months in hopes that the little guy would take to making and creating, and until recently he would admittedly tell us he wasn't interested.  Now, if you ask if he would like to play play-doh he quickly says "ok!"
