Charlie Tayler Waterwheel - Idaho Springs Things to Do

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Last weekend we took a quick trip up to Vail to see the fall colors, enjoy a few good meals, and have a baby-free night (thanks Mom & Dad for watching the babes).  We knew we wanted to have a little time for both of our hobbies (photo taking and beer tasting), so we made a few stops along the drive.

I've lived in Colorado my whole life and I can't ever recall stopping to see the waterwheel in Idaho Springs, so I quickly looked up how to get there on the iPhone and we made a pit-stop for a few photos.  It was a little brisk out, but the fall weather made the leaves quacking feel even more authentic.

The waterwheel can been seen from I-70 as you head up or down the hill, and was built by gold miner Charlie Tayler in the 1890's.  The wheel now sits at the foot of Bridal Veil falls on Clear Creek.
