Stroller Trails Near Denver {The Wild Animal Sanctuary}

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

My posts on Waterton Canyon, Fountain Valley Trail and The Bluffs Regional Park all featured pretty traditional trails.  Today I'm featuring something a little out of the ordinary.  In Keenseberg, just east of the city, is The Wild Animal Sanctuary, and it is 720 acres of grassland that serves as a rescue habitat for a captive animals. The Sanctuary is homes to lions, tigers, bears, wolves and more that have all been held in captivity and rescued.

This unique "trail" has 1 mile of elevated walkway that allows you to see the animals with the least amount of stress imposed on the animals.  In total we walked just about 2 miles and had a great time seeing the animals and supporting a great cause.

Access to the Sanctuary is $15 for adults and $7.50 for children 3-12.  The entire entrance fee is tax deductible.
