Disney World Day One

Monday, August 19, 2013

I'm finding it really difficult to get back into the routine after vacation.  Once I finally get through posting some of our photos from the trip I'll make sure to do a quick post on some tips of traveling to Disney World with a toddler.

Let's get started with the first day.

We flew out very early and arrived in Florida just after noon.  We were very fortunate that my parents traveled with us to help celebrate and to of course help be baby wranglers.  Once in Orlando, we were magically whisked away by Disney's transportation and checked into the Port Orleans French Quarter.  We immediately headed to the Magic Kingdom to get our adventure started.  We enjoyed a hot dog lunch at Casey's Corner, and then took A for his very first hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop (as you saw in my August Letters to My Son post).

We took our freshly trimmed boy to see the Tiki Room birds, and all agreed the show was a little lengthy and in great need of a makeover.

For dinner we made our way over to Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge and then went back to close the night at the park.  Our very first ride was It's a Small World.  Already past bedtime, and after a long day of travel, our little guy seemed quietly amazed.  After that we rode the new Little Mermaid ride and closed the night with Winnie the Pooh.  It did take a really long time to get out of the park as we didn't time the parade crowds right.  I think the entire group was quickly asleep once we got back to the hotel.
