Exploring the Zoo

Saturday, June 29, 2013

We wanted to do something different this weekend.  Feel like we were getting away.  We decided to take the hour drive to head down to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  Despite living in Colorado all of our lives, neither of us had ever been there.  The zoo is essentially built into the side of a mountain and you wander your way up trails and elevators to see all of the animals.  The best part is that the you can pay $2 to feed the giraffes.  Of course A thought this was the funniest thing, and squealed with delight every time they would stick their long black tongues out for more food.

Mommy's Helper

I was putting away some glasses and turned around to see this... of course I had to grab the camera to snap a few pictures before I told him it was bad to stand on the dishwasher.

Pile of Pillows

Friday, June 28, 2013

As a child I remember pulling out all the couch pillows and blankets to a make a big pile of fluff.  I would enjoy just lounging to watch cartoons.  I must have passed that trait on to my boy.  He is just starting to have interest in making big piles of pillows.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Today we turned a new page in the chapter on ear infections, fluid on the ear and communication delays.  We arrived at Children's Hospital at 6:00 AM for our 8:00 AM surgery time.  The staff is truly unlike any other hospital staff, and I admire their strength and determination to help children feel safe and comfortable during such stressful times.  As I held my child while the anesthesiologist used the gas mask to lull him to sleep, I couldn't help but feel blessed that our time in the waiting room would only take minutes as the doctor completed his procedure.  My heart aches for all the moms and dads that must show brave faces day in and day out in their child's journey toward health and healing.

When Daddy's Away the Baby Will Play

Jason was traveling for work so A and I made a pit stop at the park after dinner.  He loves the swings! Loves them! And I just love watching him as he goes back and forth catching the breeze in his baby fine hair laughing the entire time.
